 Lectures

This group will continue the work from last year. They will improve the picture control program and will make a star catalog for the search for supernovae. There will be cooperation with the photometry group in photometry of IAU circular galaxies.

Leader: Alan Pevec, B.S.

He is a bachelor of computer science which has been making extraordinary results in VSA for years. He was in the Astronomical Society Varaždin before and he participated in many camps (organized by the Youth Science Movement). He is a member of IMO (International Meteor Organization) and he participated in two congresses of IMC. His latest work deals with the automated tracking of supernovae.

Leader: Vanja Brèiæ

He is the student of computer science at Ljubljana University and for years he has been developing astronomical software for picture processing and he is the bearer of the telescope automation project at the Višnjan Observatory. He participated in many camps and astronomical practicums and schools, first as the participant, and later as the mentor.

CCD photometry of the stars and NEO

The goal of this group is taking pictures and photometry of celestial objects (stars, NEO-s). Special attention will be brought to the newly discovered NEO-s (IAUC and MPC circulars). For those objects astronomical measurements will be made which will be sent to MPC.

Leader: Giovanni Sostero, B.S.

The engineer of aerodynamics has been working on the development and testing of optics in sinchrotron Elettra project which is situated in the scientific technological park near Trieste. He regularly participates in many international organizations (i.e. SpaceGuard foundation). Giovanni is also the bearer of scientific activities at Remanzacco Observatory (extraordinary results were made in the photoelectric photometry of variable stars in the last few years). Ramanzecco Observatory deals with NEO tracking with Schmidt and CCDcameras very intensively in the last few years.

 Meteors

Meteor observations are a tradition at VSA. The position of the Moon is not favorable this year, so there is only one group in this area (they will track the groups of radiants in the Aquarius part of the ecliptic). Special attention will be aimed at the beginning of the Perseid meteor shower.

Leader: Slaven Garaj

He is studying physics at the University of Zagreb and he participated at various astronomical schools . He is planning to make a scientific carrier which will continue his work. He is one of the founders of meteor observation group PPPSDOK and a passionate mountain climber.

 Homepage VO-VSA

VSA is presented with the quality of the Web for years. With traditional presentation of the school, Internet based searching will be tried with new tools for the creation of the pages.

Leader: Goran Jeras

He is currently in the grade 12 of the mathematical gymnasium (high school) in Zagreb. He is dealing with the communications on SRCE and is taking care of many Web pages.

Group for the creation of astronomical tools

Picture

The goals of this group are completing new cameras with high resolution and work on complete of optics for amateur telescopes which are the property of the group members.

Leader: Petar Radovan

He is the leader of Youth Astronomical Section at Višnjan Observatory. He also works with the manufacturing of astronomical instruments. He is interested in ecology and mountain climbing.
