OVERVIEW:
 
VSA, or Visnjan School of Astronomy, is a joint Visnjan Observatory,   World Laboratory , and Croatian Ministry of Education summer workshop of astronomy.  The observatory is located in the western part of the Istrian highlands, near the city of Porec, Croatia . VSA is the result of many years of work by its organizers,  founders and sponsors.

The work was organized through group activities and a joint daily lecture. To see the group achievements use the links below or read the final VSA2000 proceedings.

Excursion to the Pula (Pola) Observatory

We are proud that in the relatively discriminative environment for the feminine population in Croatia, our workshop, for the second consecutive year, was a place where the equality of opportunities works !
   If we analyze the diagram below, the fluctuation and a gradual disappearing of girl students during the war period, and a complete absence in 1998 is visible.  These moments triggered an alarm, and during the year 1999, through a kind of  "affirmative action", a special care was dedicated to the problem. The result is optimistic now,  as far as VSA is concerned  ( the situation in general changed minimally :o(.
