Valuable donation of software
 from Microsoft Hrvatska

[Nov 11, 1999 - Zagreb] At this year's INFO'99 fair Microsoft Hrvatska (subsidiary of Microsoft Corp., NASDAQ:MSFT) presented itself and  it's products through a series of media events, one of which was a joint press conference with Visnjan Observatory (VO). During the conference it has been announced by Microsoft Hrvatska General Manager Goran Radman that Microsoft Hrvatska is making a valuable donation of software and MSDN subscriptions to Visnjan Observatory.
The donation is even more valuable in light of the fact that almost all of the operating software of VO is based on Microsoft solutions and developed with Microsoft's development tools. Development tools acquired through this donation will be primarily used for further development of RINGS software suite. RINGS is a joint name for a set of applications which control and automate all aspects of scientific work at VO, from observation planning and telescope pointing to asteroid astrometry and post - observation data reduction and storage.
The software donated includes Visual Studio 6.0 Professional, MS Office 2000 Professional, Encarta 2000 and RC3 version of next generation Windows2000 operating system.
Also during the conference hope was expressed both by Microsoft's and VO representatives that his donation is only a beginning of a long term commitment of Microsoft Hrvatska to support scientific and especially educational efforts of Visnjan Observatory.
