Marina Brozovic

PRESENT STATUS:

I am research scientist at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California. I am part of a group that studies near-Earth asteroids via planetary radars (Arecibo and Goldstone). My research also involves studies of the orbital dynamics of planetary satellites.

EDUCATION:

Ph.D. Physics, Duke university, 2002

B.S. Physics, University of Zagreb (PMF), 1996

VISNJAN CONNECTION:

Astronomy has fascinated me since an early age. I first came to Visnjan as a high-school student who especially liked to observe variable stars and meteors. Visnjan Summer School of Astronomy was a perfect place for me to learn and meet other people with similar interests. In Visnjan, I had the opportunity to participate in many meteor expeditions, do some supernova searches, hear many great lectures, and even grind my own telescope mirror.

The "Visnjan connection" has continued throughout the time when I was a physics undergraduate in Zagreb. I was often involved in research projects, sometimes as a participant, and sometimes as one of the group leaders.

Although I've been physically away from Visnjan for many years now, I'm still trying to be involved as much as distance permits. Internet is of great help here. There is a busy mailing list that keep us all connected.

I would highly recommend Visnjan's Observatory educational programs to anyone who sees their future in science.
