Visnjan Observatory

VISNJAN OBSERVATORY is, as a public organization, a nonprofitable and nongoverment association whose main goal is to promote science and educate the public. Besides educating the public and promoting science, the Observatory takes part in many scientific research programs.

VISNJAN. A small village at the top of a hill with a view of the sea, about 10 km away, lives it's peaceful life. Compact, architecturally very interesting city core, with it's elevated position, dominates the village. Villagers, divided between their fathers' land - hard red soil, and the attractions brought by tourism in nearby Porec, are captivated by their earthly worries. That is Visnjan. The villagers have already gotten used to their astronomers and the shiny aluminum dome high in the Visnjan roof-tops.

Group visits of the Observatory are possible with the preceding notice by letter or phone.



News from the Observatory
in the night between October 20 and 21 first new asteroid was discovered. Till now, dicoveries of four new asteroids were recognized. Here you can read an articles from newspapers, but only on Croatian. ('sorry - :-)')
