Njime se obznanjuje da je asteroid J99W01S  (1999WS₁) otkriven sa Zvjezdarnice Visnjan 25.11.1999. godine, po svojim orbitalnim parametrima toliko specifican da ga se stavlja u red "Unusual" objekata koje ce se posebno pratiti .u. (jos)

[Nov 11, 1999 - Zagreb] At this year's INFO'99 fair Microsoft Hrvatska (subsidiary of Microsoft Corp., NASDAQ:MSFT) presented itself and it's products through a series of media events, one of which was a joint press conference with Visnjan Observatory (VO). During the conference it has been announced by Microsoft Hrvatska General Manager Goran Radman that Microsoft Hrvatska is making a valuable donation of software and MSDN subscriptions to Visnjan Observatory.     (more)

Suradnja Zvjezdarnice Višnjan i HTŠ "Manero" na neobicnom projektu

[Oct 23, 1999 - Porec,  Croatia] Tijekom kongresa "Hrvatski turizam na pragu 21. stoljeca" odrzanom u Porecu od 28-30.listopada, 1999. godine Zvjezdarnica Visnjan je u suradnji s HTŠ "Manero" prezentirala projekt "ASTROTURIZAM u Višnjanu". U narednim se godinama pri hoteljersko turistickoj skoli namjerava uvesti dodatni program  "Vodic za grupe znanstvenika amatera". Jedan od podrucja za koje ce se osposobljavati ce biti i astronomija.

Astronomi talijanske zvjezdarnice Farra d'Isonzo imenovali su sedmi asteroid koji nosi ime vezano uz Hrvatsku.

[Oct 09, 1999 - Farra d'Isonzo, Italy] Dosad je 6967 asteroida (22.10.1999.), tih otoka Sunceva sustava  dobilo imena, od cega neki nose i imena vezana uz Hrvatsku. To su  redom objavljivanja:  Istria, Polana, Adria, Croatia, Tito i  Tesla.

    [Sept 15, 1999 - Zagreb, Croatia] Visnjan Observatory, CARNet and Oracle Hrvatska have signed a sponsorship and cooperation agreement on the development and deployment of Visnjan Observatory Image Database 2 and related Web services. VOID 2 and VOID 2 Web Service, while being the backbone of Visnjan's software system, are also envisioned as tools to help small to mid scaled asteroid observation programs in their everyday observation planning and execution.. .

The discovery of a new comet:

Astronomy and culture in the city of Porec

[Nov 19, 1999 - Porec] An astronomical photography exhibition of the '99 Solar eclipse as seen from Hungarian town of Siofok has been opened in Porec as a part of the festivities of St. Mauro, the saint protector of the City of Porec.
   Guests from Siofok - the authors of the photographs - have shown that extraordinary astronomical, tourist and cultural event through contrasts of dominantly black images of the Solar eclipse and the explosion of color on images of flowers and tourists, by which Siofok is known in Hungary and worldwide. The Visnjan Observatory had the honor of giving an introductory speech at the opening of the exhibition.   (more)

Leonidi 1999, meteorska kisa i jedno mokro iskustvo

[ Nov 18, 1999 - Visnjan] Nakon spektakularne pojave Leonida prosle godine kad je dio ekipe bio u Mongoliji, a dio u Visnjanu. Ove smo se godine nasli svi zajedno na brdu Rusnjak u centralnoj Istri (kod mjesta Sv. Lovrec). Kompjuterske prognoze su nam davale malu sansu vedroga dok se srediste ciklone micao iz Trscanskog zaljeva, preko Istre, prema Malom Losinju. (jos)
